ESPN announcer Ron Franklin was not allowed on-air this weekend after insulting his colleague Jeannine Edwards. During a production meeting before the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Franklin allegedly cited to Edwards as "sweetcakes" and then “a hole ".
Franklin, 68, allegedly made the sexist comments in a production meeting on Friday. Edwards has tried to crush in a conversation he had with another advertiser, so he stopped and called her "sweetcakes."
Edwards reported the conversation to ESPN officials have not had time to take the Franklin Chick-fil-A Bowl, but Franklin did not work the Fiesta Bowl.
Franklin and Edwards were part of the team, which includes broadcasters, Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore. While the three men spoke, Edwards tried to get inside Then Franklin said, “Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes.”
