Pia Toscano received a standing ovation of American Idol 2011 season 12 after her first performance of "I'll Stand by You." It is interesting to note that Carrie Underwood has been a success for her cover of this song, after an incredible live performance of the first "American Idol Gives Back."
Curiously, the judges were harder on girls than they were the guys to whom they lavished too much praise. But when it came to their obvious favorites, Lauren Alaina, Thia and Pia, they left no sentence reversed. Randy called Lauren "Kelly met Carrie."
Last night final belonged Pia Toscano, 22. She looked like a star in her glittering black cocktail dress and sang a robust version of the song that hit its mark in a little overwrought arrangement and ending with some big, showy notes at the end that sounded flat on television.
