Carlos Slim | Richest Man in The World 2010

Carlos Slim, the people of Mexico who was crowned as "the richest man in the world 2010", since the age of ten years has shown his business talent by selling drinks and snacks for the family. More than half of century later Slim (70) has accumulated profits amounting to 53.5 billion U.S. dollars and beat the owner of Microsoft's Bill Gates at the top of the world's richest people according to latest rankings released by Forbes magazine.

His business empire includes department stores, the largest telecommunications companies, hotels, restaurants, oil drilling, building firms and banks. It's hard to find things that are not associated with him in Mexico. Outside Mexico Slim has some prestigious companies such as Saks and the New York Times Co.

He made a big profit in 1990 when he and his friend bought a phone company Telmex country worth 1.7 billion U.S. dollars. Slim and transformed the company into a cash machine and buy America Movil and then enlarging it through acquisition to become the fourth largest wireless company in the world.

Slim learned his first business from his father, Julian Slim Haddad, a Lebanese immigrant who came to Mexico in early 1900. Haddad opened a grocery store "Star of the Orient" and buy properties cheaply during the Mexican revolution.
