Aretha Franklin Surgery Successful

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin had the surgery Thursday at a Detroit hospital. She did not say the reason for the surgery. "God is still in control," Franklin told The Associated Press in a statement. "I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. Last month, the 68-year singer said she canceled all concert dates and personal appearances through May on the orders of her doctors. A prayer vigil in the community was carried out by Wednesday at Detroit.
