Denver Nuggets have traded Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks in a successful operation of several players, the Denver Post on its Web site Monday night, ending speculation that began in the offseason when the All-Star forward expressed their desire for a long term contract or a trade. The Knicks and Nuggets agreed Monday night on a trade sending Carnelo Anthony to New York, three league sources told CBSSports.com
Much of what would end a long-season trade on All-Star in Denver can’t be completed until Tuesday during a conference call the NBA office. Assuming it passes through, next door to Anthony and Amare Stoudemire of the court before the potentially explosive expensive Knicks.
Knicks and New Jersey Nets were the leaders to land the services of Anthony for seemingly all season. After support for trade negotiations in mid-January, the Nets would return to negotiations on the All Star break last weekend.
