Teresa Scanlan, Miss Nebraska waves to the audience after being crowned Miss America 2011 at the Miss America pageant , Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Las Vegas. The 17-year-old from Nebraska became the youngest winner of the Miss USA in the first contest in 1921, when Margaret Gorman District of Columbia was won at age 15.
Teresa Scanlan received a $ 50,000 scholarship and yearlong run with the crown of the competition Saturday night at the Planet Hollywood casino resort in Las Vegas. Ms. Scanlan will examine American politics in Patrick Henry College in Virginia and attend law school after her reign as Miss America.
