Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver announced their separation. Shriver has lived apart from the actor over the past few weeks. The former couple confirmed the first separation in a joint statement issued on Monday.
The break is about four months after Schwarzenegger ended a chaotic series of two terms as governor of California, a job his wife never wanted him to continue.
Over the years, marriage between Hollywood celebrity and the daughter of the Kennedy dynasty to come under control, especially when recalling the 2003 Governor Gray Davis, when the Times reported on the long history of Schwarzenegger groping women. At the time, Shiver defended her husband , to help lift them to victory in the free for all competition.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver long had an association of gold crossed politics, Hollywood and the media. They are known for charity, and also founded a committee of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania to encourage roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
