Kim Darby | True Grit

Kim Darby, who played Mattie Ross in the original, Oscar-winning Western True Grit that won John Wayne his Oscar, and the new Coen Brothers incarnation of the classic Western, this one starring Jeff Bridges and screen newcomer Hailee Steinfeld.

She said "When the credits started rolling, I remember thinking back then, I was waiting the phone rings, thinking that whoever gets this job, it’s like winning the lottery," But it all depends on how she handles it, says Kim Darby.

Darby has fond memories of "True Grit", made when he was 20 years and a few weeks after the birth of their first child. Darby was a hot young talent ready to explode after the turn of "True Grit." Only the explosion has never quite happened.

Darby followed quickly "True Grit" with less successful films, including "Norwood", with Glen Campbell and Joe Namath in the lead roles.
